This Is Not Just Another Training Day
Born To Move was created to help gyms build stronger foundations for children—and the support should not stop once your program launches.
The Born To Move Online Summit gives you and your team continued education designed for the real questions you face in your gymHow do we help parents understand the value of developmental movement?
- How can we se equipment, such as trampolines, safely and purposefully with young children?
- What does successful Born To Move implementation actually look like?
- How can we better recognize and support sensory needs in class?
- What can we learn from the lived experience of a parent raising a neurodivergent child?
You will leave with practical insight, renewed confidence, and a deeper understanding of how your program can impact children and families for life.
Meet The Speakers
Christine Marshall, IDEM
Onboarding Parents: How to Overcome Their Pushback
Learn how to confidently lead both parents and young children by establishing clear boundaries, defining each person’s role in class, and positioning yourself as the trusted expert in the room. This session will provide practical tools to engage parents with purpose, move beyond the “drop-off playtime” experience, and create a high-value program that supports meaningful development, stronger family relationships, and lasting impact for every child.
Sigourney Weathers, PT
Trampoline for Babies & Waddlers
Discover how the trampoline can become a powerful tool for supporting early motor development, sensory processing, regulation, and parent-child interaction during the first two years of life. This session will explore age-appropriate trampoline activities for infants and toddlers (3–24 months), safety considerations, developmental progressions, and practical strategies that coaches, instructors, and early childhood professionals can immediately incorporate into their classes. Participants will leave with creative ideas that transform simple bouncing into purposeful movement experiences that build the foundation for future gymnastics participation.
Susan Montgomery, OT, LPC
Recognizing Sensory Processing Disorder in the Gym: Strategies to Support and When to Refer
It is estimated that 1 in 6 children experience sensory processing differences that may significantly affect every day functioning (Ben-Sasson, Carter, Briggs-Gowen, 2009). In this session you’ll learn what sensory processing is, how disordered sensory processing can present in kids in your preschool class, and gain practical tools for coaching kids who experience these challenges. You’ll also learn to recognize the signs and know when to refer a child to an occupational or physical therapist trained in this area.
Stephanie Chang
Parent of a Neurodivergent Child Beyond Behavior: A Parent’s Story Every Gymnastics Coach Should Hear
This presentation shares one mother’s journey navigating her son’s high-functioning autism diagnosis and the powerful impact gyms and early childhood programs had before and after it. Through heartfelt, real-life experiences—both challenging and hopeful—coaches will gain a deeper perspective on what may be happening beyond a child’s behavior. Attendees will leave with practical insight and greater empathy for creating gym environments where children with developmental disabilities feel supported, understood, and included.
